Holy cow, Hungryroot!

My family "eats clean" meaning all-natural, preferably organic, foods with no artificial ingredients or colors and limited added sugars.

My Problems (well, some of them!)

PROBLEM 1: I seriously hate grocery shopping now. I get so stressed out seeing all the outrageously high prices. Everything seems to be 30-50% higher than it was just a few years ago. I end up at the checkout with $100+ worth of stuff, for 3 people now instead of 5, and no meat or fish -- that is, if I make it that far and don't just abandon my cart and walk out of the store (it's happened).

PROBLEM 2: I'm not very creative when it comes to meal planning. We often have the same things over and over. I would like to eat more interesting foods, especially ethnic foods, but have (apparently) no desire to figure out the recipes, ingredients, do the chopping and prep work, etc.

PROBLEM 3: I'm not a good planner. Oftentimes, it's 4:00 and I haven't even thought about dinner yet and we end up doing carry-out ($$$).

Solution: Enter Hungryroot! Healthy, organic, nothing artificial, super-fast prep

I tried this on a whim, as usual, and it's been a game-changer. I get a week's worth of delicious, nutritious meals delivered right to my door in completely recyclable packaging, right down to the cold gel packs for which they give helpful tips about using the nitrogen-rich gel for my plants. Besides the convenience and quality, I feel good about saving money from carry-out and the environmental aspect.

How It Works

Hungryroot is incredibly simple to use. You start by filling out a detailed questionnaire about your dietary preferences and needs. Whether you're vegan, gluten-free, Keto, anti-inflammatory, or just looking for balanced meals, they have options for everyone.

Then you tell them how many dinners, lunches, breakfasts, and snacks per week you want and how many servings per meal. I chose 4 dinners and snacks, four servings each. I don't need breakfast or lunch.

Then based on your responses, they curate a selection of meals and snacks that are tailored to your tastes and nutritional goals. I can change it if I want, but so far I haven't had to. Each week, you'll receive a box filled with all the fresh ingredients and easy-to-follow recipes. Dinners take 10-30 minutes to prepare -- perfect for poor planners and procrastinators like me!

Why I Recommend Hungryroot

Quality

One of the things I love most about Hungryroot is the quality of the food. The ingredients are fresh, and the recipes are creative and flavorful. To me, it's as good or better than I get at many local carry-out restaurants.

Variety

I've discovered so many new foods and flavors since I started using the service.

Time/Convenience

The convenience can't be beat. I do a week's worth of meal planning online in about 20 minutes. Then come dinnertime, I only need 30 minutes max from fridge to table. Also, my husband and I both enjoy the new flavors and recipes.

Cost!

I pay $166 a week for four dinners for 4 plus snacks. That's way less than I've been paying for carry-out plus groceries. Since there are only 3 of us, I end up with one extra serving per meal for a lunch or leftover night. Basically, counting the leftover meal, I'm getting 5 meals, not 4, per week. So what's that...

5 4-serving dinners (20 meals) for $166 = $8.30 per person per meal plus mid-day snacks. Even a Wendy's combo meal is over $12!

Environmentally Conscious

Not everyone cares about this, but I do. I'm a fanatical recycler (ask my family), often pulling items carelessly discarded out of the kitchen trash that belong in the recycle bin. I like that everything is recyclable or has a secondary purpose.

But that's not all! When you use my link to sign up for Hungryroot, you get a 30% discount on your first order and, if you use my link, I'll receive a $50 credit. It's a win-win situation! You'll enjoy delicious, healthy meals, and I'll get to keep sharing my love for Hungryroot with others.
